Ergonomic Assessment

According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA):

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) affect the muscles, nerves and tendons. Work related MSDs (including those of the neck, upper extremities and low back) are one of the leading causes of lost workday injury and illness. Workers in many different industries and occupations can be exposed to risk factors at work such as:

  • lifting heavy items
  • bending
  • reaching overhead
  • pushing and pulling heavy loads
  • working in awkward body postures
  • performing the same or similar tasks repetitively.

Exposure to these known risk factors for MSDs increases a worker's risk of injury and possible loss of wages. Work related MSDs are among the most frequently reported causes of lost or restricted work time and productivity.

The good news is AAA PT can assist you as an employee or as a business owner to prevent work related MSDs through proper and appropriate ergonomics training. Paying attention to one’s posture and movement helps lessen muscle fatigue, increases productivity, and reduces the number and severity of work-related MSDs.

At AAA PT, our physical therapists are experts in assessing your office ergonomics and will be able to make recommendations for better posture, and positioning of your work environment/set up in order to prevent the stress/strains of prolonged improper posture and poor body mechanics. A simple exercise program can also help in preventing the aches and pains of repetitive use of muscles, joints, and tendons to make your work stress and pain free as much as possible.
